Hello, my name is Maurilio! My story starts in Amsterdam in the year 2001. I lived there until I was five years old and I would love to talk about it, but alas, I forgot. Upon arrival in the land of opportunity that is America, my small but growing family moved all across the east coast—initially finding refuge in Ashburn, Virginia, we soon moved to South Carolina. Then Connecticut. Then back to Virginia. Then back to South Carolina. And finally, I found my way to this lovely community, Davidson. Along the way, I’ve acquired two wonderful siblings, a boy and a girl named Isa and Danilo. I swim, I love being outside (this is my happy place), I value humor, I’m comfortable being uncomfortable, I love to laugh, I have a pet fish in my dorm, I’m super outgoing, I love meeting new people, and I wish I hadmorewords!

It’s super cool that you were born in Amsterdam! That’s been one of my favorite trips. Have you been back there since you moved?
Yeah, I went back earlier this summer! It was also easily the most fun trip I’ve ever been on!
Can’t believe how much you’ve moved! Hopefully you will find a new home at Davidson too. Also, I had a pet fish in my dorm in high school, it was truly a lifestyle. – Lexie
Are you an Ajax fan if you like soccer?
no sir, we a PSV family!
I had so much fun reading this, you seem so cool! What’s your fish’s name?
Haha, thanks! My fish’s name is Sushi!
Your childhood story is so cool! I hope you don’t move around anymore! I absolutely love the names of your siblings!!
Your post made me laugh out loud, and I’m so glad you’re willing to bring your sense of humor and laughter into our class. For me, the best classes are the ones in which we laugh together, and the writers I envy most are the funny ones. Check out Zinsser’s chapter on humor writing: you just might have found your calling.
